The visibility index aggregates a website's organic rankings into one metric. Instead of checking thousands of individually, the reveals how present a domain is in Google search overall.
In simplified terms it derives from three factors:
- the ranking positions achieved,
- the search volume of the keywords,
- the expected click probability per position.
A position 1 ranking for a high-volume keyword contributes far more than position 28 for a niche term. Importantly, the is not an official Google metric and not a revenue figure. Each tool (such as SISTRIX, Semrush or XOVI) uses its own keyword set and weighting, so values from different providers are not directly comparable. What matters most is the trend within the same system and the comparison with competitors.
