The Reporting An application programming interface (API) is an interface through which software systems communicate and exchange data. It defines how requests are made and answered.Open glossary entry → brings RankScan data into your own dashboards, data warehouses or Looker Studio. Access works with a token and is read-only.
Create an API token #
Open the user menu at the top right, choose “Account” and then “API Tokens” on the left. Only admins see this area.
Enter a “Token name”, for example “Looker Studio”, and click “Create token”.
Copy the token right away with “Copy”. RankScan shows it only once.
Revoke tokens you no longer need with “Revoke” in the table.
What data the API provides #
The Reporting API provides daily values for properties and topics: the three scores, health pages and issues, A keyword is the search term users enter into a search engine to find information, products or providers. Keywords are the basis against which rankings and visibility are measured.Open glossary entry → and competitor positions in search, and prompts, brands and sources from AI answers. This includes Share of Voice in AI answers measures the proportion of mentions a brand receives within a prompt set compared to competitors. Connect Looker Studio #
On the “API Tokens” page, click “Open the Looker Studio connector”.
In Looker Studio, click “Authorize” and choose your Google account. Paste the token into the “Key” field and click “Submit”.
Choose the property and click “Connect”.
Set the date range in the report. Filter by topic, keyword or prompt in the report as well. The connector picks the matching granularity from the fields a chart uses.

Tip #
Create a separate token for each integration. That way you can revoke single access without affecting others. Every token sees all properties of your account.
