RankScan turns your measurements into tasks. Each task describes a problem, names the affected pages and says how you check success. The list is sorted so the most important comes first.
How to read the list #
Open “Measures” in the menu. The header says, for example, “12 tasks, most important first.”
The tasks are grouped in three chapters: “AI presence”, “Search” and “Technical”. Each task shows its effort: “Quick Win”, “Moderate” or “Major Effort”.
The order follows the relevance of the affected pages, severity combined with effort, topic priority and effort. A severe task with high effort can therefore come after an easier one.
Use the filters to narrow the list: status, work type (Editorial or Development), effort and topic.
How to work through a task #
Open a task. “Why at this position” explains its place in the list.
Read “What and why”, “Suggestion” and “Procedure and check”. The steps are there.
Implement the task and click “Mark as done”. The status becomes “Reported as done”.
RankScan checks the task itself with the next measurement. Afterwards it shows “Fixed” or “Not fixed yet”.
If a task does not fit, click “Ignore”. It then no longer counts. “Resume” brings it back.
If an agency implements the measure, send it with “Delegate”, see Delegate Measures to External Partners.
Disruptions and weekly report #
RankScan reports technical disruptions right away: a failed Crawling is the process by which a search engine bot fetches a URL and downloads its content. It is the first step before a page can be indexed.Open glossary entry →, new critical errors or slower loading. They appear in the overview and by email. How rankings and mentions develop is in the weekly report. Set the delivery day under “Settings” → “Notifications”.
You choose who gets these emails, see Set Up Weekly Report and Notifications.
Tip #
Work from top to bottom and plan a realistic workload per week. A few consistently implemented tasks achieve more than a long open list.
