Prompts are the questions RankScan uses to query AI systems. They define what your is measured against. Good prompts mirror the real customer journey - from problem awareness to provider decisions. Every prompt belongs to a topic.

How to create prompts #

1. Open a topic and go to AI Prompts, either during wizard step 5 or later in the property settings.

2. Enter prompts as complete questions - the way your target audience would ask them.

3. Optionally let RankScan generate prompt suggestions and select the useful ones.

4. Activate the prompts you want to track. The number of prompts per topic depends on your plan.

Three prompt types to cover #

  • Problem questions "How can I reduce checkout abandonment?" - early journey stage.
  • Category and comparison questions "Best marketing automation tools for SMBs?" - where shortlists are formed.
  • Provider and decision questions "Is [your brand] a good fit for small teams?" - late journey stage.

Tip #

Write naturally and avoid brand bias. Prompts that already include your brand do not measure whether you are discovered. They measure how you are described. Use both types intentionally.
